Goodbye Edge, We Will Miss You

As many of you probably already know, WWE Superstar and current World Champion Edge declared his retirement on the most recent episode of Raw.  This has been confirmed to be legitimate and not part of any storyline or angle.  Edge stated that recent medical tests have stated that his previous neck injury (which required extensive surgery) has not gotten any better and will actually get worse if he continues to wrestle.  With tears in his eyes, Edge thanked the fans for a great run and bid farewell to the WWE Universe.  I am personally very sad to see Edge leave, as he is one of the last true greats of my generation of wrestling, but I do agree with his decision.  Edge strongly believes that if he continues this hard hitting lifestyle he will probably end up in a wheelchair.  Edge was truly a great performer and revolutionized a lot of matches in the WWE.  It was announced that Edge will be forfeiting the World Title but nothing else was revealed about the future of the belt.

Edge's Pyro Pose Is Very Generic And Dumb.

While Edge is a very talented superstar, and definite potential legend, his entrance has always seemed to be forced an uninspired.  As Edge got a bigger following with the WWE fans I feel that he wanted his entrance to be cooler and wanted pyro added to it.  I can see how the conversation went down; the WWE official asks, "how do you want your pyro to trigger?"  Edge replies "ummmmm how about when I throw up the rock and roll horns?!"  Like I said very uninspired and stupid to me, but thats just my opinion.

Edge And Christian Reunite On Friday's Smackdown: Huge Disappointment

So I have finished watching this week's friday night Smackdown, and when the announcement was made that Edge and Christian were to reunite for the first time in ten years, I was very intrigued.  In my opinion, the Smackdown storylines and characters were alway less interesting than their Monday Night Raw counterpart after the first WWE Draft, but the show was given a great opportunity to really capitalize on the nostalgia factor here and they did nothing with it.  There were a few problems with how this reunion was treated.  First off they did not enter together to their old music.  This should be a no brainer, but this simple idea seemed to escape the creative team of the WWE.  Second, they did not do ONE double team move, no con-chair-to, not even a double suplex, they were pretty much fighting their own matches.  The third problem I found was that none of the old charming aspects of the Edge and Christian tag-team were used.  No kazoo's no pose time for all those with flash photography, Hell I would have even settled for Gangrel being in their corner.  WWE was given something special to use and like they have done so many times in the past, ruined it.
