TNA: Headed To Be The New WCW

I have been following TNA wrestling for the past few weeks and let me just say that I am very disappointed with this product.  The past few episodes of Impact  I have witnessed were very boring with very little wrestling at all.  The last episode I watched had two matches during the two hours of runtime.  The stories were nowhere near as interesting as WWE storylines and thats saying something.  For example, Kurt Angle has a surprise for Jeff Jarrett and ends up hitting Jeff with a *gasp* a guitar?!  NO WAY!!!  You understand what I'm getting at here.  TNA is heading for the same fate as WCW.  I mean they have the same people running it that put WCW out of business (Bischoff and Russo).  Another note, look at all the top TNA stars, they are stars that were made in other promotions; Sting (WCW), Kurt Angle (WWE) Rob Van Dam (ECW AND WWE) Mr. Anderson (WWE) and of course Mick Foley (I do not need to tell you his history).  The amount of home grown TNA stars is miniscule.  I refuse to acknowledge Samoa Joe as a potential draw.  He may be popular to some people but I really dont see anything all that special about him.  I have recently finished Mick Foley's book "Countdown To Lockdown" and it sickens me to read his claims that TNA is such a great product and is far better than WWE.  While the backstage politics may run rampant in WWE and some superstars may have better unfair advantages than others, they offer a far better product than TNA.  If you dont believe me, tivo an episode of Impact and compare it to a recorded episode of Raw.  If you like the episode of Impact better, then I owe you a steveweiser.

Brodus Clay: Should We Care?

So as most of you wrestling enthusiasts probably know, Brodus Clay has been added to the active roster of WWE Smackdown as Alberto Del Rio's enforcer.  This former NXT contestant used to be Snoop Dogg's bodyguard and is quite the power house.  He is rather impressive in the ring and with the right build up could be a huge addition to the roster.  With Mark Henry and Big Show retiring sooner than later, the WWE will need a big man to add to the Smackdown roster.  He does run the risk of running into a character dead end like the late Umaga or the current Great Khali.  People like this need their talents to back up their characters.  Khali and Umaga (God Rest his soul) are big guys who's characters never went anywhere and are in WWE gimmick limbo.  Brodus Clay is a young person with a lot of potential and I hope WWE figures out a good gimmick for him that will stick.

Jeff Hardy Wrestles Under The Influence Once Again?!

So there have been reports that the main event at TNA's last pay per view, that Jeff Hardy showed up to work "in bad condition."  There has been no specification as to what that actually means but many are assuming that he was under the influence of some substance, wether it be alcohol or drugs.  The match was even cut short to a little over a minute due to the fact that Sting simply did not want to work with him in his "state."  As many of you probably know, Jeff Hardy has a long history with substance abuse and this would not be the first time he has shown up drunk or high.  In my opinion, Hardy is largely to blame of course, but I think that TNA is also to blame as well.  Hardy pulled this same bullshit in WWE and despite the fact that he was a huge talent, they fired him.  TNA seems like they are tolerating Jeff's substance abuse and seem to be turning a blind eye to his destructive behavior.

Jim Ross Returns To Wrestlemania

So reports are stating that Jim Ross will be behind the announce table for at least two of the matches at Wrestlemania.  It's always a pleasure to the ears to hear the banter between Jerry Lawler and Good Ol' JR.  I certainly hope that one of the matches that he calls is Taker Vs. HHH.  If not then WWE has truly lost what smarts they have left.

The Corre Is A Waste Of Television

I am a fan who believes that the new stable, The Corre, was not only unnecessary but unwanted in the world of WWE.  Wade Barrett, the previous leader of the Nexus, was due for greatness after his stint with the Nexus but instead he was put with another go-nowhere stable labeled the Corre.  Throw in two former Nexus members (Gabriel, Slater) and Ezekiel Jackson (who I am convinced WWE has run out of ideas to make him a star) and there you have a poor man's nexus and a stable that no one cares about or will care about in the future.  In my opinion, it is now time for Barrett to go off on his own to prove his worth to the company but instead he was put in a stable that seems to have been rushed together in the last minute and that less people are interested in than the previous incarnation of the Nexus.  I do not know why the WWE developmental team thought it was a good idea to create The Corre, but I hope that they disband sooner or later so that these talented superstars are able to shine on their own.

Mason Ryan Spending Too Much Time Under The Nexus?

In my opinion yes.  I do not think that Mason Ryan joining the Nexus was the best way to introduce such a powerhouse.  He has indeed filled a big man void on Raw since Batista left, but putting him as a minion under CM Punk tends to label him as a mid carder and thus the focus is always on Punk but never Ryan.  I think that the sooner Mason Ryan loses the Nexus armband, the better.
